FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Why are children's eyes more sensitive to UV rays?
Because children have larger pupils than adults, their highly sensitive retinal cells are more exposed to UV light. Similar to sunburn on the skin, the tissue and cells of the human eye can be severely damaged by UV light. In addition, children generally spend more time outdoors and are therefore exposed to UV light for longer. This makes adequate protection with high-quality sunglasses all the more important.
What age are SooNice Sunnies suitable for?
Our SooNice Children are for children aged approx. 3 - 8 years. The SooNice Baby sunglasses are for babies aged approx. 6 - 24 months.
Do babies and toddlers also need sunglasses?
The eyes of babies and young children are particularly sensitive to UV radiation. Their lenses are not yet fully developed and filter out less UV light than those of adults, making the eye more susceptible to damage. It is also beneficial to get children used to wearing sunglasses as early as possible.
Why is it useful to wear sunglasses in autumn and winter?
Even on a cloudy autumn or winter day, UV rays can damage our eyes. UV rays are strongly reflected by the surface of the snow. Wearing sunglasses protects against painful inflammation (snow blindness). On windy and cold days, sunglasses also protect against watery eyes.
Why do SooNice Sunnies have protective side flaps?
Sunlight is particularly reflected by water or snow. Our specially developed side protection ensures that your child's eyes are also protected from indirect UV radiation (scattered light).
What is the UV index?
The UV Index (UVI) of the World Health Organization (WHO) is a measure of ultraviolet radiation. The higher the UVI, the higher the risk of potential burns and chronic damage. Based on the UVI, you can decide when you should protect yourself from sunlight and avoid going outdoors. The WHO recommends wearing sunglasses, sunscreen, and protective head and body clothing from a value of 3 (medium).
Where and from what material are SooNice Sunnies produced?
Our sunglasses are made locally in Italy from recycled nylon (ECONYL®). This means no new plastic is put into circulation and CO2 emissions are saved.
What is ECONYL®?
ECONYL® is regenerated nylon made from waste. It is equivalent to newly manufactured nylon and can be recycled and reshaped again and again.
What makes SooNice Sunnies sunglasses so special?
Conventional children's sunglasses are rarely adapted to the needs of children, but are simply smaller adult sunglasses. We at SooNice Sunnies have changed that and designed sunglasses exclusively for children: 100% UV-A and UV-B protection, side flaps to prevent stray light, scratch-resistant lenses and a light and flexible material for particularly high wearing comfort. Our SooNice Sunnies are made from recycled nylon (ECONYL®) in Italy.
Why are SooNice Sunnies more expensive than other children's sunglasses?
Our glasses are made from recycled nylon (ECONYL®) in Italy. Recycling and processing into a high-quality product requires years of know-how, which we found after intensive research at our producer in Italy. The production of our sunglasses should not harm the environment, animals or people. In terms of product safety, strict requirements and environmental standards apply in Europe. In addition, we want to ensure that the employees involved in the manufacture of our products are fairly paid and that social standards with regard to labor law and safety are observed. This affects the price of our products, which is why by purchasing SooNice products you are making a valuable contribution to the future of our children, social justice and Europe as a business location.

Why do you only produce children's sunglasses?
At a family dinner, we realized how important it is for children to wear sunglasses. After extensive research and discussions with leading eye care professionals, we realized that there were no sunglasses on the market that were adapted to the needs of children and at the same time were manufactured in a resource-efficient manner. Therefore, we continue to focus on closing this gap and want to educate parents about the dangers of UV rays entering their children's eyes.
How do you choose your producers?
We are very careful when choosing our partners. First of all, we try to keep the production of our glasses as close as possible to the relevant sales market. Our glasses are currently manufactured for us in Italy by a renowned Italian manufacturer. This saves transport routes and therefore unnecessary CO2 emissions. Other criteria for us are years of know-how in the production of glasses and optical accessories as well as the willingness to constantly develop and improve our products with us. This also includes the use of resource-saving materials such as ECONYL®.
With regard to labor law, social standards and occupational safety, we require compliance with national legislation.
We also want our products to be available to you at any time possible. For this reason, we secure appropriate production capacities from our partners in order to cover seasonal peaks.
Just like you, a reasonable price-performance ratio is very important to us.
We value long-term partnerships on equal terms and are in constant communication with our partners.
What contribution do you make to protecting the environment?
As a provider of products specifically for children, we are committed to constantly improving and taking further measures to protect the planet even more. One start is the choice of recycled nylon ECONYL® as the main component of our glasses. This is regenerated nylon made from waste. It is equivalent to newly manufactured nylon and can be recycled again and again.
Another measure is the choice of local producers in order to produce as few CO2 emissions as possible. In both cases, this unfortunately still has an impact on the price of our products, which is why you too are making a valuable contribution to the future of our children by purchasing SooNice products.
We are currently working on further measures to improve our environmental performance and will inform you via our channels as soon as we can achieve additional significant improvements.
How do I properly care for my SooNice Sunnies?
We want you to enjoy your SooNice Sunnies for as long as possible!
Therefore, follow the following care instructions:
- To remove dust and dirt from your glasses, please only use white microfiber cleaning cloths. It is best to do this without applying pressure, as this can cause discoloration.
- Dampen the glasses cleaning cloth and clean the lenses and the frame.
Alternatively, you can hold the glasses under lukewarm, running water and then dry them with a glasses cleaning cloth. - Please do not use colored glasses cleaning cloths or glasses cleaning sprays (especially those containing alcohol).
- Do not leave your Sunnies in places where they will be exposed to extreme temperatures for long periods of time (e.g. dashboard).
Are further models planned?
We are currently working hard on a model for children and teenagers aged approximately 9-14 years.
Why does the SooNice Children model no longer have click-on hinges since 2025?
It is very important to us to constantly improve our products, our service and our actions. We have therefore decided to only offer our SooNice Children model with firmly screwed temples from next season. The example of our successful SooNice Baby model has shown that thanks to the flexible ECONYL® material, the temples are robust enough to avoid over-tensioning. Any lost temples can still be reordered through our customer service .
